Annie /
This session took a bit longer than expected to get out. A main reason was some major life changes that I was going through, but also the fact that this session had a lot of really good shots that I liked. It also didn’t help that my talent knows how to WORK IT. Annie was a student of mine when I first started directing theatre and I knew when I first saw her in a performance that she was special. She may have struggled to fit into a high school setting, but thats because Annie is, like myself, an old soul. She is a deep seeded person who likes to love and laugh and cares deeply for the people who show her love. I was glad that I took the time to mentor her because we grew from a actor-director relationship to a strong friendship. We tried a few acting exercises during this session to convey different emotions to the camera; and without any surprises, she nailed ‘em. So much so, as I had already stated, it took me forever to narrow down to this fifty few. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them. Annie, please remember how special you are because you carry something great inside of you that makes you attractive to those who come in contact with you. Thanks for being a fellow nerd with me and Tina. Hope we stay friends for a long time.
PHANGS /
Last Saturday I drove down to Nashville to meet up with some friends and we went to an album release show for PHANGS by Jake Germany. He used to be part of a group (cardboard kids) but most of his time is spent touring with Relient K and his solo project: PHANGS. Jake is a pretty cool guy and he shows a lot of love to his fans.
For those who haven't even heard of him or listened to his stuff, I can just describe it as 21st century synth pop with 80s flare. It was never my favorite genre, but since I kinda started to get to know the guy, I decided to listen to his stuff and I gotta say it's all really catchy. I find myself having most of the songs stuck in my head for most of the day. His album "Get in my Arms" seems to be built on a lot of emotion and feeling that I think Jake conveys pretty well from his intentional lyrics to his specific beats/sound/synth placements. I'm excited to see what the future holds for him and look forward to hearing some new material. Keep rocking Jake!

AudioFeed Festival (day 1 of 3) /
I had the pleasure of shooting my first music festival a few weeks ago. It was a ton of work, I slept in a tent, and used baby wipes to shower, but it was an amazing experience. On top of getting some sick pics, I also got to spend a weekend with a few other amazing and talented artists. We bonded and geeked out over photography, music, movies, and bad/hilarious photo gigs we've all been through. This festival had a pretty interesting atmosphere. It honestly was like nothing I had ever experienced before. Everyone I met was so nice and welcoming and made the time I spent there all the more enjoyable. I hope to reunite with some of the great friends I made that weekend soon and we can once again get into great creative conversations that I had forgotten how much I had missed.
Marisa /
Undergrad would have been a bit more difficult if Marisa wasn't there helping and encouraging me to keep pushing to be the best I could be. I'm thankful to have her in my life and appreciate the friendship and laughs we have shared these past few years. We have both grown a lot since we've met and continue to teach other how to be better artists and better friends.
(Also ft. some of me/bird hat that she took)
Entourage /
This memorial day weekend, I spent some time in the city with two guys I started off undergrad with. Nick and Nate are good friends it's nice to know we're still close after all this time and all we've been through these past six years.
I had to give them a quick photography tutorial when it came to them having to take pictures of me; I think they did a decent job.
Leonardo B&W /
A recent project I worked on was with a previous student/now current friend of mine Leo. I usually don't use a lot of black and white for my projects, but there was a photographer who I started following recently that used a lot that I really liked. Thus, I felt many of the colored photos from project Leonardo would look good in b&w and I think I was right.
Introduction /
Although "Gerardo" is spread all throughout my website, every calls me Jerry. Why do I spell "Jerry" with a J rather than a G? Because I don't play by your rules! Also. I simply just liked the way J's looked when I was growing up.
Anyway. This blog is to introduce my self and set a few goals.
First, I would really like to be taking more photos. Photography has been such a long passion of mine and I feel I am good, but can be so much better. I feel a lot of getting better has to simply do with just shooting more often. So that's what I plan on doing.
Second, is to keep this site updated on a consistent basis by showing projects I am currently working on or have currently finished. I hope to use this blog as a creative outlet and a organized placement for possible future employment opportunities.
I hope your willing to follow along on this artistic journey I plan on taking.
